Bako Ambianda is the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Bako Group Holdings, a pan-African investment holding company with a diversified portfolio across the finance, technology, energy, real estate, mobility, and media sectors.
Bako is the CEO of Backbone Capital Ventures, a venture capital firm providing early-stage funding to start-ups and emerging technology companies across Africa. He also serves as the President and CEO of Labacorp Industries, a company focused on securing funding for the exploration and development of mineral and energy resources. Additionally, he is the Executive Chairman of ATIGS Network, a global membership organisation dedicated to promoting international trade and investment in Africa through its active chapters worldwide.
Driven by a deep commitment to Africa’s sustainable economic advancement, Ambianda has spent over a decade working in international trade, foreign direct investment, and business development. His work has been instrumental in designing and launching high-impact development programs and initiatives that support the continent’s global competitiveness.
Ambianda leads Capital Allocators 100, an investment ranking platform, and advises corporates, institutional investors, governments, and development finance institutions on capital allocation strategies and private equity investments in Africa.
A Cameroonian-born entrepreneur, Ambianda is passionately committed to advancing Africa’s sustainable energy future through Bako Group portfolio companies—Bako Enterprises and Velocity Xperiences (VX Global)—with initiatives in solar energy, electric mobility, clean water solutions, and plastic waste recycling. He serves on multiple boards and is the founder of the Bako Ambianda Foundation, an organisation dedicated to empowering young African entrepreneurs through education, mentorship, books, and transformative development programs.
His achievements have earned him numerous accolades, including being named Most Admired Young Global African (2019), receiving the Africa Business Advocate Award (2019), being recognised as a Global Business Disruptor (2018), and being featured among Forbes Africa’s 30 Most Promising Entrepreneurs (2020).
